Roger’s Ramblings – June 2015

posted in: Parish Council 0

Hey Ho, another year and off we go! Yes I was again unanimously elected as Chairman of your Parish Council at our AGM, so, sorry, another year of Ramblings! Seriously though, I do enjoy doing what I can for the village and rest assured I will do my very best.

The Annual Parish Meeting was not well attended which I think is a sign of general satisfaction within the Parish. We had an address from Rebecca Avery on behalf of the Police and Crime Commissioner Sir Graham Bright, reports from the School, Cricket Club, Cade Management Committee, PCSO, District and County Councillors and, of course, the Parish Council and Village Green Trust.

We moved on to the Annual Council Meeting when, after the elections (more next time), items discussed included Cross Path, the watercourse in Caxton End, Speedwatch, the A428 and the success of the Village VE Day Celebrations. Approval was given for payments of accounts due, the Bank Reconciliation, and Risk Assessment in addition to the Annual Accounts, the Annual Return and the Annual Governance Statement together with the new Transparency Code.

We discussed the Village Website and expressed our thanks to Richard Rogers for hosting it, the Community Right to Bid for Village assets, and the Planning Application for an Educational Centre at Pembroke Farm on the A428. Arrangements were made to open a bank account for the Charity set up to administer the funds resulting in the sale of the Institute, and we welcomed the installation of the new Community Speedwatch Signs at the three entrances to the village. The purchase of a portable flashing warning Speedsign is to be discussed at the July meeting.

Correspondence included a request for driveway improvements at 59 and 65 The Green and a request from the Cricket Club to use The Green for the current season.

A short Eltisley Village Green Trust meeting approved the Annual Accounts and accounts due for payment, which were to the Parish Council for tree work costs and the re-painting of the bus shelter.

See the full draft minutes in the bus shelter for further details and as always, praise or problems to me at 45 Caxton End or on 01480 880122 or or our Clerk Jane Bowd on 01480 468451 or

Because of Feast Week, the next meeting will be at The Newton School on Tuesday, 14th July at 7.30pm please come along if you’re not playing Bingo in The Cade!
