Okay, so it was last month, but I have to mention our great Village Feast week, with cricket each day – and mostly victorious, a Concert in the Church, Pet service in the Church, Pub Games Night, History Society Archives, Bingo, Scrumptious Sweets, Quiz, and Quintessentially English Evening, all leading up to the Fête and Barn Dance accompanied by a Hog Roast and lastly the Children’s Teddy Bears Picnic! Wow! What a week, and well done to those who worked so hard to make it a success.
On our Parish Council Agenda on 14th July we had the routine Declarations of Interest, Public Forum, appointment of Internal Auditor, Bank Reconciliation and payment of Accounts. It was reported that the Annual Accounts to 31st March 2015 had been successfully audited, and the formation of the Charity to administer the funds following the sale of the village Institute was in hand. The Council approved a planning application for the change of use of agricultural land to garden in Caxton End, the purchase of a mobile Vehicle Activated Speed Sign to be transferred between three sites in the village, the storage facility to be erected at The Cade and the establishment of a No Cold Calling Zone in Caxton End.
We heard that Cambridgeshire Highways were not prepared to re-instate the width restriction bollards in Cross Path as we had proposed, and that they are likely to be replaced in their original position whilst we review the alternatives, and we noted the award to the History Society for their Book on Eltisley’s fallen. Correspondence was received from The Eltisley regarding complaints about the recent fireworks following a wedding there and we concluded the meeting at 9.10pm. There followed a short meeting where the Council approved the Clerk’s Annual Appraisal.
The EVGT meeting that followed approved the Third Party funding of £2,200.00 to the Grant from Amey Cespa for the storage facility at The Cade, and the funding of the mobile Speed Warning Sign for the PC up to £4,500.00 less any grants obtained. The cost of the new flag at The Cade and 6 months administration costs were agreed and the meeting finished at 9.40pm at which point we all retired to The Cade to catch the end of the Bingo!
Finally, I apologise for the disgraceful state of the bus shelter, if anyone knows who the culprit or culprits are please let me know.
The next PC meeting will be at The Cade on Tuesday, 8th September commencing at 7.30pm please come along.
As always, praise or problems to me at 45 Caxton End or on 01480 880122 or email@example.com or our Clerk Jane Bowd on 01480 468451 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Have a lovely summer.
Roger Pinner, Chairman Eltisley PC
