August 2010
Oh to be in England with temperatures soaring, lawn mower sales slumping and paddling pools sold out – a little rain would be welcome, but not too much! particularly as our farmer friends begin their harvest.
At our recent PC meeting we had six members of the Public attend and heard comments on Bridleways and potholes, with work planned on both. There was criticism of the Annual Parish Report, the running of the Council and the cost of our Clerk. I must say that our Meetings are run quite properly and we are completely open and transparent, our Clerk is skilled, knowledgeable and competent and in today’s legislation laden Society we would be unable to operate without someone of her calibre. Of course we always welcome constructive criticism otherwise it serves no purpose. As I have mentioned before, we are supporting a Housing Survey by Cambridgeshire ACRE to establish the requirement for affordable housing in the Village, so please look out for the forms and fill them in and send them off.
Well, what a week we’ve had! Feast Week began with the Barn Dance followed by a week of Cricket culminating with the Fête, and in spite of some changeable weather, it was pure unbridled family fun and reminded me of the spirit of Feast Weeks of the past, bringing the whole Village together. Well done to all those involved, there was a great deal of hard work and it is much appreciated.
The next PC Meeting is Tuesday 14 September, 7.30pm at the School, please come along.
I’m available as always at 45 Caxton End or on 01480 880122
